High Street Guided Walk

The entrance to the Amity hall, later the site of Woolworth's

As part of the Oxfam Bookfest, Katie and I are going to do a couple of guided walks down the High Street from the Oxfam shop (No. 136) to the museum. They are on Monday 4th and Monday 11th July starting at 11 am. and lasting about an hour. There is a charge of £2.50 with the proceeds going to Oxfam and places can be booked at the shop or by ringing 01202 674086.

We’ll be talking about buildings, people and events in the history of the High Street and covering some of the things which have turned as a result of the High Street research. Come along if you fancy it. I’m sure there will be some familiar bits of history but also probably something new. Wish us luck!
